From the CW publicist:

Many of our CW actors called the network and asked if they could do PSAs to reach out to their fans, asking them to help the people of Haiti. Please post these PSAs on your sites so we can continue to help those in need. Thank you.

(I recognized Jared Padalecki and the actor who plays Stefan in Vampire Diaries in this one.)

(Jared, Jensen, Misha, VD actor and Smallville Chloe in this one.)

(VD and Smallville actors in this one.)

(Didn't recognize the actors in this one. Anyone?)

It took me forever to figure out what icon to use on this post, because I'm pissed off, annoyed or otherwise displeased with pretty much all of my fandoms right now. So I guess I'll use one from a show I haven't even watched. Nyah.

Supernatural Abandon All Hope (and was there ever a more appropriate episode title?) )

FAIL: Comedian Jim Norton, staying at the same hotel where Supernatural fans are gathered for Wincon, tweets, "The hotell is full of obese women who blog about ghost stories. Feels more like a herd than a convention. Fat bloggers. Yuck and yuck." Screencap is here in case the asshole deletes it.

Edit, via [ profile] calicokat, Norton has a history of wanky fannish behavior.

Edit II: is that a Don Imus shirt Norton is wearing here? That explains a lot.

WIN: Awesomesauce that makes up for aforementioned fail: Someone on Twitter dared Traci Dinwiddie to sing "Crazy" like Elmer Fudd:

I have heard a lot of rumblings recently about fan support for a Dean/Ellen hookup. I have to smile. Personally, I'd be very shocked if that ever happened....not that it is totally out of the realm of possibility (this is television and anything is possible) but I just can't see it happening. I've never actually seen a serious love scene on the show and if they were going to put Dean and Ellen together, there would have to be a bit of a show, no? How would they both handle it afterwards? Would it be awwwkward? Would that make Ellen a total cougar for taking down her dearly departed friend's son? Hmmm. Not that i wouldn't be up for the challenge (you have SEEN Jensen, right?), but i just don't know if it's in the cards. maybe one day.

Man, how much would I be ALL OVER some Dean/Ellen? I'm sure Kripke would never go for it (*smites*), but OMG I WANT IT. At the very least, could we have Ellen with someone? Although *cough* Dean would be the logical choice. *shifty eyes*

I find myself in need of some good, old-fashioned emotion porn. Not actual porn that's also emotional, I mean (though god knows, I wouldn't say no to that right now, either.) Just something satisfyingly emotional, you know what I mean?

Like, "In My Time of Dying," which I'm actually watching right now. I'm really missing when Sam & Dean used to be the beginning and the end and everything in-between for each other. I really think we'll get back there by season's end, but. Gah, I miss it right now. :(

I'm kinda sick-ish at the moment, and I need comfort fic. Or comfort episodes. Just comfort, you know? I haven't read fanfic in so long -- I honestly can't tell you the last fanfic I read. It's been months, maybe a year. And now I just really, really need something with emotional payoff.

So, what other eps should I be watching? Can someone suggest awesome fanfic? Videos?

Meanwhile, I'm going to make chicken soup. Comfort food. :)

edit: attempting crossposting. Let's see if it works.

Comparably, former occupant Smallville opened its new season one year earlier (on Sept. 18, 2009) with a 2.9/ 5. And this beat the debut of Melrose Place two nights earlier (1.9/ 3 on Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. ET) by a hefty 68 percent. Naturally, the true test will come when the demos arrive, but based on the overnights The Vampire Diaries is an initial "winner" for The CW.

Leading out of The Vampire Diaries was the fifth season-premiere of Supernatural at a last-place 2.2/ 4 at 9 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the second-half of The Vampire Diaries (3.2/ 5 at 8:30 p.m.) was a marginal 71 percent. If there was one letter I could hand to Eric Kripke and the other writers right now, it would be this one. (Hat-tip to [ profile] zillah975)

"...this is a fan letter. It’s one in more ways than you might appreciate right at this moment. It’s only because I am such a fan that I am sticking with this show and hoping you’ll do it better. And it’s only because I’m such a fan that I’m writing you this letter."

If anyone reading this knows a way to get this to Kripke et al...please do so.

With Vampire Diaries pairing with Supernatural next year, the CW has apparently adopted a new tagline for their Thursday programming.

Thursdays go goth.

Has she ever watched Supernatural? I mean, EVER?

Also at today's upfronts, the CW mentioned that the median age of its viewers is 31. Yes, that's about 10 years younger than the average for the other networks, but my question is, why are they still acting as if their audience are all teenagers?
fangirl_says: (Default)
The Hollywood Reporter is saying the CW plans to air new drama Vampire Diaries on Thursdays at 8 p.m., betting on the established sci-fi audience that are already accustomed to tuning in then. (Please note that THR does not name its source for this information, so for now it's just a rumor.) The article seems to say Smallville would not be coming back, but I've also heard it's headed for Friday night.

What do y'all think? Personally, I think it's an excellent idea. Smallville has been fading fast, and it's certainly not doing Supernatural any favors. I'd watch Vampire Diaries anyway, and putting it on Thursdays would make it all the more convenient. CW, if this is true, I approve.

Edit: There's a promo pic of Vampire Diaries here -- you may have to go a few pages in for the VD pic.

In what could be the final nail in the Dollhouse coffin, the show's season finale last night received its lowest ratings of the year. Only 2.8 million people tuned in, which is roughly the same number of viewers that Supernatural got this week (its second-lowest ratings of the year, I might add).

The difference being, of course, that Supernatural is on The CW, where 2.8 million viewers is nothing to sneeze at, and Dollhouse is on Fox, where execs are no doubt sneezing their heads off at this very moment.

Honestly, Dollhouse deserves to be cancelled. Even coming from a background of loving a lot of Joss's previous work, I really didn't like this show. My only regret at this point is that cut in case someone hasn't seem the last two episodes ) But as someone on Twitter said, Dollhouse may be Joss's Ishtar. It had promise, it had buzz. It even had the automatic adoration of the Joss faithful, and it still...well, sucked.

Have some burning questions for Misha Collins? Wondering what he thinks of Supernatural fans after experiencing his first fan convention? Dying to ask that question you didn't get around to asking in New Jersey? Hoping for hints about what's yet to come for the show for the remainder of the season and beyond?

Supernatural returns with new episodes Thursday (FINALLY OMG), and Misha has graciously agreed to answer questions again (my first interview with him is here -- A Whole Lot of Smiting Going On).

Comment with your questions here (replies will be screened,) or email them to me at I'll send the best questions to Misha!

Edit: I probably won't be replying (as that would unscreen the replies and sort of make the screening moot), but I'm reading everything. Thanks for all the great questions, and keep 'em coming! :D

I miss Ellen. *sigh*

Also, there are lotsa people on my flist going "No Genevieve hating" and not a one that I've seen actually hating. I have the awesomest flist in the history of awesome.

However, I still don't like Ruby 2.0 and am waiting for a good explanation for how the character changed so drastically.

I love love LOVE Legend of the Seeker. OMG so cheesy, and some of the acting is absolutely horrendous (Zedd actor, I'm lookin' at you), but I love Richard in all his Gary Stuish glory (and good GAWD, where has Australia been hiding Craig Horner? MAMA LIKES.) And and and Craig Parker! As a villain called Darken Rahl!

Seriously, more people should be watching this.

Craig Horner

Meanwhile, I'm losing the Fringe-love. Tonight's episode is really not holding my attention.

Dude, I'm watching "Jericho," and the CW's doing one of those annoying watermark ads -- for Supernatural!

...of course, Sunday's their rock-bottom lowest ratings day, so a maximum of 700,000 or so people will see it. But it's the principal of the matter -- they're promoting SPN! Kinda! A little!

Also, I got to see My Bloody Valentine 3-D, yay! Spoilers. )

The usually-dependable Marc Berman: "benchwarmer drama Reaper will open season two in place of Supernatural on Thursday in March. Supernatural is, however, expected back in 2009-10."

I'm trying to get more information on what this means (SPN will wrap season 4 in March? Or will this mean a hiatus in March and the season ends later?).

Edit: The also-usually-dependable James Hibbard at The Hollywood Reporter says Reaper is headed for Tuesdays after 90210, replacing Priviledged.

Son of Edit: Michael Ausiello, also usually dependable, seconds Reaper replacing Priviledged, not Supernatural.

Edit 3-D: Supernatural publicist Suzanne Gomez confirms Reaper will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m.
