Fifty Shades of Gray
Mar. 30th, 2012 07:10 pmSo, who here has read "Fifty Shades of Gray"? There's been so much talk about the book that I thought I'd check it out. I did the same with "Twilight" when it first came out -- I read the first one just to see what all the fuss was about. I expected I'd dislike Fifty just like I disliked Twilight, and feel free to walk away all safe in the knowledge that I have finer tastes in reading than the vast majority of that book's readers.
But, you know what? I'm kind of really enjoying it. Not gonna spoil anything, but I'm so surprised to actually like it and I had to know if anyone else felt that way.
I don't even hate the female lead character, which I suspect is because I've so thoroughly blocked Twilight girlie character out of my brain due to PTSD caused by that...book. I don't even picture that actor when I think of Fifty's protagonist. I do kinda see Robert Pattinson for the male character, which is a little bit annoying. I'm trying to convince my head to see him as someone else. Hmmm... perhaps John Bernthal. Perhaps Norman Reedus (on second thought, no, I can't see that at all.) Who else could pull off a very dommy character?
