Veddy interesting.

At first, I thought it was just spam, but there are no links, and it seems to be responding directly to what I said in the post. And who else would give a shit, particularly on a post nearly four years old? And didn't one of Palin's teenage daughters (Bissel or Trap or whatever off-the-wall thing Palin named her) get in trouble not too long ago for her foul-mouthed defense of her mother on facebook?

Come on back and play, little Palin spawnling.

Edit: Comment now unscreened so it can be seen. Whoops! *facepalm*

Also, and randomly, below is a link to a song called "1980" by Rehab. They're the ones who sing "The Bartender Song," which is infuriatingly catchy and EATING MY LIFE, which is why I finally broke down and bought the damned CD so I could play it till I was sick of it and then get it out of my head and OOPS, they have several other songs I actually like. *facepalms* The lead singer's voice reminds me of a cross between Darius Rucker (Hootie and the Blowfish) and the lead singer from Nickleback, kind of bluesy and slightly rough, and "1980" actually has an appealing/catchy chorus and its attitude towards the woman is positive and it's basically awesome...if you can get past the first 18 seconds, which I hate. If you can get past those 18 seconds, and then a bit longer when it hits the chorus and gets REALLY lovely, I think you'll like it.

1980 by Rehab.

The CD's called "Graffitti The World;" if you like this, go buy it! :D

Verb. Being lazy; accomplishing nothing. Wandering aimlessly.
("What're you doing today?" "Oh, just loaferin'.")

-They, law! (Sometimes just "They!")
Expression of surprise, loosely translating to 'holy crap' or 'wow!'
("They, law -- it's snowing!"
"They! Look who's here.")

-Good lord willing an' the creek don't rise.
If all goes well. Unless something prevents it.
("Next summer, I'm getting married -- good lord willing an' the creek don't rise.")

Now you go! Tell me what words, phrases or colloquialisms you love. Doesn't have to be Southern -- in fact, I'd love to hear phrases from other regions and countries. :D

It's part of a viral marketing campaign for a Russian movie called "Wanted."

I totally called it. :D

I want to apologize to anyone I offended with my politics-fueled tantrum on Tuesday. It wasn't directed towards 99 percent of my flist, and I would've been much better off directing it just to the few I meant to snark at.

For the record, I will certainly vote for Barack Obama. The fact that I'm a lifelong Yellow Dog Democrat doesn't actually have much to do with it -- I do, by and large, agree with Obama's positions on most things, so I will not hesitate to vote for him. What set me off was not people celebrating that their preferred candidate effectively secured the nomination; it was people who felt the need to denigrate and belittle not just Clinton, but Clinton supporters as well, as a part of the celebrating. Some of the outright misogyny I saw (not just at Clinton, remember, but at me, as a Clinton supporter) was pretty horrifying. And last time I checked, we were all on the same side, here. To suddenly have the feeling that my side is not my side anymore is a deeply disturbing thing.

Also for the record, I'm not wild about how the campaigns have been conducted, and I thought Clinton should have dropped out awhile back. I still regret that my first choice, John Edwards, didn't do better than he did. After he dropped out, I struggled for quite some time to choose between voting for Clinton or Obama, because I like both of them pretty much equally.

At any rate, I apologize to any who were offended.

Buzzsugar is talking about which British actors have the best American accents. Not surprisingly, Hugh Laurie is at the top of their list, and Anna Friel from Pushing Daisies is #2. There are quite a few other fandom favorites, too, including Jamie Bamber, whose teeny tiny towel American accent impresses me on a weekly basis. There's also Lena Headly from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, who must be good, because I didn't realize she wasn't American, and the late, lamented Jericho's Lennie James.

Who else has a great American accent?

(Please do ignore the fact that I completely missed the "TV" part of the question and posted a comment about Ewan McGregor. *is goober*)

Edit: Updated with the actual link this time *facepalms*

Good morning, mine flist!

I appear to have nothing fandom-related to say today. Well, that's not true. I have stuff to say, but I'm not going to do so. *resolve!face*

I tried to work on the fic I mentioned yesterday, but the words refused to be moved from my brain to the keyboard. I can /see/ what I want to say, but can't seem to say it. At least I can see it, though, and that's an improvement.

Anyway, I'd really like to find new wallpaper for my work puter; can anyone point me towards some nice ones? Fandom ones probably won't work, unless they manage to be work-sanitary (not just safe).

I can't decide if this is the best commercial I've ever seen or just the worst case of selling out in the history of music.

Also, Joss Whedon has announced that Amy Acker will co-star on Dollhouse. You may remember her as Fred on Angel the Series, but to me she'll always be That Girl Who Flirted With Dean Winchester But Got Dragged Naked Out Of A Bathtub By Sam.
