Hrm...looks like Creation screwed up (I know, I'm just as shocked as you are!)

From Samantha Ferris's blog:

I should clarify for you here, Carrie....this is certainly no attack on the volunteers...i know the long hours and hard work you put in and i respect you all greatly put in.....my frustration is with the guys putting it in. I find there antics a bit slimy and not 'above board', I'm afraid. Can't speak for the other guests, but after the convention in Chicago (which we rocked at) i was told that i would not be invited back because they heard me say on stage that i was a bartender in the past and they thought that was a little too 'working class' for a guest on their stage. Then they invited me last minute to LA and renegged for reasons that weren't clear. For the Dallas convention, we had a deal, they promoted my appearance and then backed out on a couple of details. So we had to bail out. So you can understand my frustration, right? LOVE the volunteers at conventions...it would never happen without them and they do it all for no money. My hats off to them all.....but the boys at the top need to check their 'decency meter'.....cause it's a bit low.
Wow. Said it wasn't going to dish...and there i did. kinda felt good...in a mean, slightly bitchy kinda way......but its all true and i stand by every word.

Emphasis mine, and wtf, being a bartender is 'too working class'?

From here.

So what she was a bartender!! I don't care what she did before Supernatural.. Those running the con need a reality check.

She is clearly not up to Jared or Jensen's standards, as hte two boys show up in limos and have a butler to walk Jared's dogs while he sits and gets his hair pampered every hour because those photoshoots are just so tough. And Jensen can totally not take time from his busy schedule hiring professional golfers to golf for him while he watches from his own personal sattelite feed from his huge mansion in LA.

In short... bzuh?

Sam is way too graceful and elegant, especially in light of this obvious slam against her "working class" past.

Um, do these people not get that the majority of actors today have come from working class roots?

The mind boogles. She's an actor and the fans love and want to see her, what on earth has a previous job as bartender to do anything with that? I can't believe how disrespectful those "boys at the top" act towards their guests - especially since they managed to insult the entire "working class" by implying they have no place on a stage.

I'd love to see what they think of my job. I'm a fucking custodian.

The FUCK???? Okay, if I ever had considered spending money on a Creation Con, that went out the window as of now.

So... she's too working class to promote a show about working class guys? Nice. Real nice.

Fuck you and burn in meathook Hell, Creation

{Pause}

I wonder how many modern actors meet their exacting standards of the Proper Guests they host on their stages?

Personally, I'm guessing not too many. {wry look}

You know, I think it says something that I have absolutely no problem believing that Gary and his goons would say something like this.

Also? My mom put a roof over our heads and food on the table as a bartender from the time I was 8 years old until the day she died. I am personally offended at their attitude.

What the hell is wrong with working class people? I know lots of people who have had to work in the service industry like waitresses or bartenders. Plenty of actors depend on that sort of work to survive on in their early years.

But then you are talking about CREATION and in my opinion that is one fucked up group.

God, I've heard so many bad things about Creation. This is just another example of why they suck.

been hearing nasty things about creation for years now... just one more item in the 'bad' column. i don't get the whole 'class' slam, though - i mean, it's only in the last 50 years or so that *acting* has become considered a respectable profession. asshats.

I wonder what's "too" working class for these guys. Would they have invited a former printer? Or a one time brick loader and road-line painter? How about an ice-cream scooper?

I know nothing about the convention runners, but it seems to me that Samantha Ferris often says things publicly that she should probably keep to herself. Things that make her look less than professional. (Last year's comments about Ellen being phased out spring to mind.) She's kinda like the Michael Muhney of the SPN cast.

Just asking

Because I am a stickler for these kinds of things, but did you get Samantha Ferris' permission to repost her comment here?

I am asking because reposting people's comments from other sites without their permission is illegal and can be seen as a violation of LJ's terms of service.

Also to me it's always nice make sure to show someone the simple courtesy of asking them if they want their personal comments reposted other places before doing so. To me, it's the right thing to do not only because it is what the law of copyright is all about, but for the simple reason that it makes them aware of where the comments are going and how they are being used and if they want their comments reposted or not.

I'm sorry but Sam being a bartender makes her just more kick-ass in my book. Who the hell does Creation think they are?

I'm kind of glad that James isn't going to be at fangoria in June. Now I won't have to feel bad about the fact that I'm not going to anymore of their snobbish events.
