Who would've thought I'd be missing Katie Cassidy's acting? Seriously, I'm more than willing to give the new girl a chance, but so far, I'm beyond not impressed. I mean, could she not act a /little/ like Ruby? This show has always had fairly strong continuity, and unless we get a good reason (like this demon's not really Ruby, though I would think Sam would know the difference), there's no excuse for Ruby to suddenly be slow-talking and deferential when all last season she was quick with the cutting wit. New!Ruby's boring. Ooh, hey, here's an idea -- maybe since they got rid of Katie Cassidy because she's too expensive, they'll hire a new actress every episode. It fits with the show's canon -- if Ruby is posessing a new person every week or so, maybe she does less damage to the host body, which I would think Sam would insist on. Also, since she's not like other demons, maybe she actually cares if she hurts her host. Hmm. I'd really like it if that's the last time we see Ruby 2.0. Bring on Ruby 3.0! Hint -- I'd love to see a Black Ruby, particularly when she's being not-evil.
Also, are we supposed to think/wonder if Sam and Ruby are sleeping together? Because that would SO not be okay while she's posessing other people.
Castiel/Dean. I'M JUST SAYING. EDIT: Yeeeeeah, except HELLO, I'm an idiot for not realizing that's the same damn thing as Sam/Ruby. *facepalms*
Castiel is played by Misha Collins (whoops; I thought that was a female actor's name!) and I'm digging him so far! Like, a lot. A LOT lot.
Man, I hope the ratings were good last night. I think it's safe to say you're too invested in a show when you're refreshing Mark Berman's forum every few minutes, hoping to get ratings as soon as they're released. *facepalms*
I'm going to say, tentatively, that I found this episode pretty much free of offensiveness. Dean did not call a woman a bitch or a skank once! And, okay, yes, he hit the female demon -- twice. But I think he would've done the same thing if it was a male demon, and I wouldn't have blinked twice if it'd happened that way.
All in all, I'm really pleased, and so hopeful for this season. :D
