-The Boy Wonder on the CW:

The CW is developing a drama for next season about Batman’s sidekick Robin in a project called The Graysons, which will focus on the life of Dick “DJ” Grayson before he teams up with Batman. The Graysons, which could potentially replace Smallville (or be paired with it) will be set in modern times.

Hmmm... That could be either very good or very bad, depending.

According to what I heard at the con, the CW itself might not last longer than this season.

Pardon me whilst I vomit. Seriously, Robin isn't a very interesting character by himself, never was, never will be.

I know -- that's why he's the sidekick! Sheesh.

Yes, exactly. If they had a show about young Bruce Wayne, that I would watch until it pissed me off like I know it would, but that would at least be more interesting.

Hm. I thought they were developing a Green Arrow spinoff from Smallville to replace Smallville. Considering the character is already established and Justin Hartley can, ya know, act, you'd think that would be a no-brainer. Oh wait...

Hee!

Yeah, I'm sure you're not the only one wishing for the Green Arrow instead.

This implies they expect Smallville to outlast SPN? I suppose that is possible since Kripke has said 5 Seasons, but still. :(

My concern is they'll dump SPN and replace it with Grayson. D:

While everyone in the world pretty much expected this season to be the last, the new producers are running around saying they have stories developed for season 9 and beyond and Dawn O was saying pre-season that there was no reason to expect this to be SV's last season.

Poor Tom Welling....

That can only end badly! (I mean, seriously, Dick Grayson became Bruce Wayne's ward because his entire family died.) How is that good TV? Oh. Wait.

Bwah!

I mean, I know it's probably going to be a total re-imaging, but. Well. He's not the most fascinating character ever, unless they're completely throwing out the canon character or something.

I actually rather like Dick (and later Tim) -- I got to know him in his Teen Titans/Nightwing years, and it was cool to see him get so much attention out from under Batman's shadow (so to speak). :) But the thing is, if it's "The Graysons", then any chance at seeing that part of his character/history/personality is down the tubes! What good is that?

Does this mean we can make lots of Dick jokes on TV?

That sounds...ill-advised.

Excuse me while I vomit.

Okay, I honestly don't care as long as they don't kick Supernatural for Mr. Dick. Which, if paired up, I am assuming they would do that.

Smallville season nine? The show is already dead, they are running around with it's corpse now trying to make us think it is still alive.
