Took the GRE this morning. To say it was challenging (especially the math) would be something of an understatement.

Unofficial score, math: 146
Required for my program: 141

Unofficial score, verbal: 160
Required for my program: 150

Woohoo! I was completely expecting to bomb the math, but I squeaked out of it. Thought I'd do better on the verbal, but WHO CARES I PASSED.

Well, once I have the analytical writing scores back, I passed, but I do think I passed those, too. My program requires a 3.5, but I have no frame of reference for what that would be. I just know that I felt I semi-kicked the ass of the first essay, and did well enough on the second.

OMG I AM SO GLAD THAT'S DONE.

On to the fun stuff -- Hunger Games!

Of course, I loved it. So much of it was just spot-on perfect. Jennifer Lawrence rocked my proverbial socks off! My only qualm with her was that she looks much older than 16. It wouldn't be so obvious if the actor playing Peeta didn't look OMG SO YOUNG. I, erm. Felt like a right perv. When I was perving on him, you know. As one does. ANYWAY MOVING ON.

The only thing that really raised my hackles about the movie was how Peeta's leg was OMG MAGICALLY AND COMPLETELY HEALED by the MAGICAL WONDROUS OINTMENT OF DOOM, and hence we didn't have him being whisked away to be healed and didn't get to see Katniss lose her freaking mind about it. That, to me, was not okay. The ending itself seemed quite rushed, which is understandable since we were pushing two and a half hours as it was. Oh, and I didn't think the flashback of Peeta throwing Katniss the bread was clear enough. If you didn't read the book, you'd have no idea why Katniss is sitting there in the rain, or why Peeta tossed the bread her way. It just felt like an odd way to present it.

But! It was, in most ways, fantastic. The Capitol people were gaudy and bloodthirsty and awesome. District 12 was gorgeous (filmed in Western North Carolina for great yay!) Rue was everything I hoped she would be. Gale? Eh. He's not my favorite character, and really, there isn't much for him to do in this one. Hopefully he'll be more interesting later.

Anyway, my brain is broken. At least I am safe from any potential zombie apocalypse?

The movie was fun and I totally agree about Josh Hutchinson. He's a cutie, but that baby face makes me feel all kinds of pervy too!

He's a dollface! Also, did you notice those lovely arms of his? Looked just like he had been slinging 100-lb bags of flour. We just need to get a few years on him, and meanwhile...well, nothing wrong with a little innocent??? perving, right? SAY RIGHT, OKAY? ;)

The arms! Yes, in that scene where he tosses the big...ball thing into the rack of weapons! He's going to grow up into a fine looking man, lol, and he'll appreciate the baby face later in life.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a little perving ;)

Woohoo! Congrats on the GRE scores!

I haven't seen Hunger Games yet, so I'm skipping that part. Perhaps this weekend. ;)

Woo hoo for GRE passing!! \o/

I'd heard that Hunger Games was filmed in NC - was all of it filmed in NC or just parts of it?

Thanks! Wooooo!

I'm pretty sure it was all filmed in NC. Everything except the Capitol scenes was filmed in Western NC; the Capitol stuff was filmed in Charlotte, which is...more central NC. :D

It's kinda neat, because all the tourism people in this area are running with the whole Hunger Games idea while it's big; there are tours and excursions and everything. It's pretty exciting! I hope they come back to film the second and third movies, but I'm not sure we have appropriate scenery here for either of those. :\

OK, so now I have to ask where in NC you are - I'm an NC girl too, up in the corner near Boone :-)

Oh, wow, no way! I'm near Hendersonville. I can't believe you're near Boone! Are you at App State? What a small world! :D
