Wow, everyone on FB seems intent on raising my blood pressure tonight. Someone posted that 2007 photo of President Obama where he doesn't have his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, and a person I have known previously as gentle and kind called him a pig. Someone else called Spike Lee a terrorist for tweeting the (incorrect) George Zimmerman address and insinuated that the President speaking out about Trevon Martin is "supporting terrorism." Someone else posted a picture of President Obama with...I don't even remember except there was a tall stack of Legos involved and he was supposed to be saying that he was going to take half of them and give them to kids who had been napping all afternoon.

I just closed that tab and have intentions of staying away until I can bear it again.

Yeah, I actually unfollowed several people. I'm trying hard for peaceful coexistence, because some of these people have been significant to me at various points in my life, but...yeah.

You need a G+ account. From what I've seen over there, at least the people are reasonable in their discussions. There's a level of maturity you don't seem to find anymore anywhere on FB. Now you can still find some real winners, don't get me wrong - they're everywhere - but for the most part people seem to think before they post.

I feel your pain. I seriously question whether I will survive this year politically. When I'm PMSing I go after people who post things like that on FB because I just can't stand it. My current favorite is the meme about how some black kids killed a white boy and his girlfriend and where is the outrage? It states 'black on white crime is politically incorrect to report'. Really? Where is this??? Sometimes I get the feeling people are all living in their own realities and it's a fight to see who can impose theirs on the rest of us. Have you seen the bumper sticker with a line through the Obama logo and stating 'don't renig'?

I try to stay out of things as much as possible; I've learned the hard way that people (including myself, I'm sure!) don't want to discuss politics; they just want to argue. I hate arguing!

That is so it! No one wants to discuss - they just want to argue! I don't mind arguing when it's important but as far as politics, it doesn't matter what I think or want anyway so why bother to talk about it? O_o

I always knew that many of the people I grew up with and went to school with were ultra-ultra politically...OUT THERE, but wow. Sometimes it's just overwhelming. I need to somehow learn to be like my sister; she never discusses politics even though I know she has strong political opinions. Maybe she can advise me on that.
