"Family Man", tonight's episode of the NBC horror anthology Fear Itself, was written by Dan Knauf. Knauf wrote "Something Wicked", the first-season Supernatural episode that gave viewers a glimpse of Dean and Sam as youngsters left alone while John Winchester is on a hunt. ( Brief, spoilery synopsis for Family Man behind the cut. )
The first two episodes of this series have been pretty forgettable -- the fact that the first episode reminded me of Shyamalan's The Village is not a good thing. The second ep was a bit scarier, but the show's one-shot format doesn't leave much time for character development. Fear Itself is sort of like Supernatural in that it's a different horror movie each week, but without the benefit of characters I actually care about, which is where Supernatural generally shines.
I'll keep watching for now, but grudgingly.
