Firefox Eyes Guinness World Record
Jun. 18th, 2008 11:03 amEdit: IMPORTANT! Please read the comments below BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD. Apparently, the new version does not support many extensions, and it looks like once you've installed it, you can't choose to go back to the old version.
It's Download Day 2008, the day Firefox 3 is available for free download, and Firefox is trying to set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours. At the time of this writing, Firefox had been downloaded over 7 million times. Firefox's website says version 3 has over 15,000 improvements over the last version. I can't wait to check out the new bells and whistles.
To take part in the world record attempt, Firefox asks that you download "by 11:16 a.m. PDT (18:16 UTC) on June 18, 2008. That's 11:16 a.m. in Mountain View, 2:16 p.m. in Toronto, 3:16 p.m. in Rio de Janeiro, 8:16 p.m. in Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Rome and Warsaw, 10:16 p.m. in Moscow, and June 19, 2008 at 2:16 a.m. in Beijing and 3:16 a.m. in Tokyo."
