Steve McQueen's grandson lands role in CW's Vampire Diaries

The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Steven R. McQueen, grandson of actor Steve McQueen, has landed the role of Jeremy (Elena's "outcast cute younger brother") in Vampire Diaries.



Meanwhile, former Ruby incarnation Katie Cassidy has taken a lead role in the CW remake of Melrose Place.

Yeah, you know, I think she'll fare much better on Melrose Place. I actually feel kinda bad about some of the fan reaction to her when she was on SPN; I'm glad to see her career's doing well.

Yeeeeeah, I'm with you. They're so desperately trying to cash in on the young female demographic, but they're ending up just looking...well, desperate. I mean, Gossip Girl is a hit only by CW standards, 90210 did much worse, and Privileged will probably not be renewed. I get that they want their "brand" to be the network for young women, but they're throwing away the rest of their viewership with both hands in the meantime.

Wait, wait, WAIT! The Vampire Diaries....like the Vampire Diaries books??? Like the books with Elena (the queen of high school) and Stephan (the cute quiet good vampire) and Damon (the sinister crazy handsome brother vampire) and and and....for real??? THOSE Vampire Diaries? I read those books when I was younger years ago over and over again and I still have them in my book collection. I didn't know they were making a series! Am I right? A series modeled after the books by L.J. Smith? If that's true, you have no idea how excited that just made me. For srs! :D
