Janice in Kentucky: Any word on Supernatural? Give me some love!
Gladly. I’m hearing that Supernatural is going to be dealing with a lot of specifically religious symbolism this season, with a particular eye toward the devil, hell, god, etc. (And with any luck: loincloths.) Also, did you hear that Sam is the devil's son?! Oh wait, wrong show. Did you hear that Dean is in hell?! Crazy town! From what I'm hearing, the new Supernatural season is looking really good.

If anyone needs me, I'll be over here rubbing my hands together with glee.

Hmm.
I can't decide whether I like the sound of that or not.

I'm really excited about it, myself. I mean, that's sort of where the show has been heading, especially with the addition of Lilith as the Big Bad, and all the talk about Sam being the boy king. :D

It could be very good - or at least keep our brains busy for a little while.
I just dread the idea of putting more emphasis on "Dean the Christ figure! Sam as the Christ figure / the Adversary!! MAJORAPOCALYPSTIC SHOWDOWN!!"

I am very very curious about the Sam / Lilith though now. Because I think Kripke has something else he's not sharing just yet related to that.

This could be interesting. I hope they still keep a lot of the urban legend stuff, though.

I love the MotW eps, and I'm sure they'll still have plenty of those -- I mean, those are like the meat and potatoes of the show. But I'm really pleased to hear they're going to continue to examine religious symbolism. That's something I love to sink my metaphorical teeth into. :D

I had seen a TV Guide interview with the ebil Kripke and he said the writers hadn't been this excited in a long time. And you know? Immediately after the season finale (SOB!) I had the very same feeling. Even tho the finale was seriously painful, it really does set things up for a super season. *heee*

(And while I hate Kristin, I like the idea of loincloths. Just not going to hold my breath...)

i really enjoy the 'real' religious/occult details in the writing - i've always loved researching/reading that kind of stuff. and omg how dangerous is the 'net for digging up all sorts of info, in addition to all the books i have on religion/folklore/mythology...? hours of diversion, yay.

however, i think the evil rebellious part of me just enjoys knowing the teachers, etc. from my church-run elementary, secondary and high schools (along with my parents, sigh) will be gnashing their teeth over the whole thing. *wicked grin*
