One of the great ones has left us -- not just a great actor, but a humanitarian as well.

He'll always be Butch Cassidy to me. :)

Speaking of that....I actually called my mother to tell her about it because he was one of the few actors that she actually remembered finding handsome (yes those eyes) back in the day :)

I'm so sad about this, though he's had such a good life and I'm glad that he could die as he wished to, at home, with his family. amazing man, amazing actor. To me he'll always be Cool Hand Luke.

I've always had so much respect for him and Joanne Woodward for resisting the Hollywood curse on relationships, and for his dedication to caring about other people. One of the great ones, indeed.

He was my Mom's favorite actor. I remember seeing him in Butch Cassidy with her.
He did so many wonderful things,his charities are a testiment to his character.
Hollywood has lost one of it's brightest stars.

I am sorry to hear that. Yes, he was a great actor. Although, strangely, I have to admit I don't recall if I have actually seen Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid in it's entirety.
