In what could be the final nail in the Dollhouse coffin, the show's season finale last night received its lowest ratings of the year. Only 2.8 million people tuned in, which is roughly the same number of viewers that Supernatural got this week (its second-lowest ratings of the year, I might add).

The difference being, of course, that Supernatural is on The CW, where 2.8 million viewers is nothing to sneeze at, and Dollhouse is on Fox, where execs are no doubt sneezing their heads off at this very moment.

Honestly, Dollhouse deserves to be cancelled. Even coming from a background of loving a lot of Joss's previous work, I really didn't like this show. My only regret at this point is that Alan Tudyk was awesome in the last two episodes, and I'd love to see more of him as Alpha. But as someone on Twitter said, Dollhouse may be Joss's Ishtar. It had promise, it had buzz. It even had the automatic adoration of the Joss faithful, and it still...well, sucked.

I think the problem with Dollhouse was that at the start it had too much studio interference. I really hope that it does get a second chance because with the last few episodes it looks like it was actually going somewhere beyond the whole active Doll on a mission.

Yes. I think it may just be best to let that one go. I can only think of two episodes I enjoyed and the vague recollection of one other.

Shame though... I loved Paul. *sigh*

*shrugs* I love Dollhouse. I feel there's absolutely no reason it should be cancelled, while mindless shows get to keep on trucking.

Um. I never know how to say this without sounding like I'm coming off like a bitch, so you'll just have to trust me that I'm not being bitchy, 'cause I'm not, but... I really WISH you had put the part about Alan and Alpha behind a cut since I haven't watched the last three or so eps, yet. How long do things usually get a spoiler cut for?

Argh, I'm sorry; I usually put spoilers behind a cut for a week. I'm sorry I spoiled you. :(

It happens. *shrugs* I guess it doesn't really matter since it seems like it's getting cancelled anyway. Which is a shame, because I would've liked to see where it would've gone eventually.

On a Joss-ish verse related note, have you heard anything about Castle? Because I'm totally digging that for pure entertainment value and Nathan.

Nah, I haven't heard anything about it yet. I've only watched a couple of eps so far because I'm pathetic and can't usually stay awake that late and haven't gotten around to DLing the rest yet. Which reminds me, I need to get on that.

this is what Whedon gets for going with Fox again, and I know that it was originally Dushka that had the contract with them, he should've known better. I don't think the show sucked, sure nothing will ever top 'Buffy' in shear awesomeness, but it certainly had its weak points and skeevy issues, but the 2nd half of the season was pretty good, and I loved Alan Tudyk as Alpha, way to bring the bad.

Also as far as viewers, it goes with my theory that if Fox doesn't pick it up, that Whedon should take it to another network, cable or the CW (although I doubt they'd pick up, as they already have SPN and 'Smallville'), the CW knows its never going to get as many viewers as the big 4 networks, and it accepts that.

I tried watching Dollhouse again last night after not watching it for a few weeks. I still couldn't pay attention all the way through. Except during the part where she was crawling on the beam to get the thingamajig before it fell. I thought, "she's going to reach out then for no reason start to slip & the thingamajig is going to fall." And guess what happened...

Also? Firefox actually acknowledges that thingamajig is a real word spelled correctly. But Dollhouse is not.

I'm a Joss faithful, a disciple of the Church of Joss you might say...

I tried, and I tried and I TRIED to like Dollhouse, but...ugh. It sucked. I thought the casting was awkward, the characters two dimensional and the story ...incongruent. Plus the FBI guy who was our antagonist/protagonist (depending which side you're on) was an idiot. He'd been working on the case for years and hadn't gotten any where.

Plus I find Eliza Dushku irritating as hell, she just doesn't do it for me. I think her acting skills are minimal, and I didn't see any differences in any characters she played. They were all the same. They are all just variations of Faith who we've seen her do seven hundred times.

I am however Saddened that Alan Tudyk won't be employed any more. I sure do like him as an actor.
